First thing would be to ensure the attic has proper ventilation to allow cool air in and for warm air to escape. Second, we want to make sure there is proper air sealing around any ceiling penetrations and confirm the attic insulation meets a minimum R-Value as defined by local code. Third if there is still a problem with ice we can install De-Icing cables with a sensor to automatically turn on and melt away snow and ice during winter. De-Icing cables require a GFCI weatherproof outlet to be installed in the soffit to work properly. This must be done by a licensed electrician.
